CAMEO GLASS VASE

CAMEO GLASS VASE:
The cameo glass technique involves fusing at least two layers of different coloured glass, then cutting away the top one to create a design in relief. In this dramatic example, the white opaque tulips stand out boldly against the translucent ochre yellow ground. Cameo glass was first produced by the Romans, and regained its popularity in the 19th century when some very fine pieces were made. This vase is by the leading British makers, Stevens & Williams.
